Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Opening

Outpatient physiatry job, Long Island and Queens part-time, full-time would also include Medford (Suffolk County)

Practice Features:

  • Provide an extensive set of services including:
  • Objective and Definitive Medical Evaluations
  • Therapeutic Modalities (Electrical Muscle Stimulation, Ultrasound, Paraffin Therapy)
  • Heat/Cold Therapy
  • Exercise Rehabilitation (Utilizing Aerobic and Weight/Strength Conditioning Exercises)
  • Pain Management
  • Electrodiagnostic Studies (EMG/NCV Studies).

Responsibilities:

  • Examining patients that may need to undergo physical therapy.
  • Diagnosing pain as a result of an injury, disease, or a disabling condition.
  • Determining and implementing appropriate treatment plans for patients.
  • Recommending and performing various medical procedures, such as trigger point injections, soft tissue, and joint injections to treat pain and improve physical functioning.
  • Leading a team of medical professionals, including physical therapists, in order to optimize patient care.
  • Monitoring ongoing progress and health of patients, and changing treatment plans, as necessary.
  • Performs or monitors the performance of electrodiagnostic testing (EMG – NCV).
  • Counseling patients and their families and helping them adapt to lifestyle changes.
  • Orders clinically appropriate testing such as X-rays, Cat Scans Ultrasounds and MRIs.
  • Recommends consultation with orthopedists, neurologist, psychologists, spine specialists and pain management.
  • Performing initial evaluations to determine a patient’s need and ability to participate in the rehabilitation process.
  • Conducting periodic re-evaluations of patients to determine progress and for change or discontinuance of treatment.
  • Prescribes appropriate orthotic devices as clinically indicated. Checks for proper fitting of such devices.
  • Keeps complete medical records of all services provided and the patients’ progress.
  • Documents ranges of motion with a handheld goniometer.
  • Performs other duties as requested.

 Knowledge & Experience:

  • Experience working in an outpatient Musculo-skeletal practice preferred.
  • Knowledge about the different types of physical rehabilitation treatments and programs for different injuries.
  • Leading a team of physical therapists, physical therapy assistants and monitoring their job performance based on patient care.
  • Ability to treat patients of all ages.
  • Experience with injections and writing prescriptions.
  • Working with patients on determining pain management strategies

 Education & Training:

  • M.D./D.O.
  • Board-Certified or Board-Eligible with American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (ABPMR)

 Physical Requirements:

  • Duties require extensive standing and walking.
  • Requires lifting, positioning, pushing, and/or transferring patients.
  • Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs.

 Compensation:

  • W2 Base Salary Commensurate with Skills/Experience, Starting at $250k salary
  • Employee Benefits + Paid-time off + Paid Company Holidays
  • Additional quarterly bonus based on RVU productivity.
