Location:
- On the water in beautiful northern CA, near Eureka
- Near the Border of OR
Practice Features:
- 10-bed, new inpatient rehab unit at a 49-bed facility; ADC-10. Also, this position will be supplemented with an OP program and some supplements in the area, i.e. SNF in area and maybe even rounding in the hospital
- Level 4 trauma center
- Opened in December, 2015
- Internal and external referrals. A community liaison markets from Medford, OR to Eureka, CA
- The unit is managed by a well-experienced, successful rehab company
Diagnoses:
- CVA,TBI, SCI, debility trauma and hip fractures and other 60% CMS diagnostic categories
- Level 1 and 2 traumas go to Medford, OR
Responsibilities:
- Inpatient; a hospitalist provides medical care; the physiatrist is the attending and admitting doctor
- Can also choose to do consults at the acute care hospital
- Can choose to provide outpatient services at the facility and at another nearby outpatient center
- Can also work at a SNF
Call:
- 1:2; hospitalist will help with call
Affiliation:
- Independent contractor
- Year to year contract, can go for multiple years
Compensation:
- As an independent contractor – Fair market value for administrative services which is approximately $100,000 per year. A rehab unit in CA generates approximately $9,000 in annual billings per occupied bed per year which equals $90,000 for a total income of $180,000 plus professional billing receipts for outpatient and consultant
Payor Mix:
- 80% Medicare/managed Medicare, 10% commercial insurance and 10% Medicaid
