Inpatient/outpatient physiatry practice opportunity, Philadelphia suburbs, also available for locum tenens for the summer

Practice Features:

• 14-physician, 30-year-old physiatry group, all the physiatrists are Board Certified
• 10 physiatrists, 1 physician assistant-certified, 2 nurse practitioners, 4 internists
• The practice specializes in Stroke, Orthopedics, Musculoskeletal, Brain Injury, and Pain Management

• Last year, the hospital treated more than 3,100 inpatients – including 600 patients in its award-winning Brain Injury Program — and provided more than 28,000 outpatient visits for patients of all ages at seven locations in Philadelphia’s western suburbs.
• CARF accredited Spinal Cord Injury, CVA, and Amputee programs.
• Their program is growing in its emphasis on the long-term management of patients, extending from the acute rehabilitation phase to the immediate post-acute rehabilitation discharge, and on through long-term follow up, and multiple outpatient specialty programs.
• They provide spasticity management, orthotics, and psychological support.
• It provides a broad range of programs at every level of care including inpatient, outpatient and day treatment.
• Programs are offered to individuals with conditions such as brain injury, stroke, orthopedic injuries, spinal cord disorders, multiple sclerosis, amputations, arthritis, Parkinson’s disease and chronic pain.
• It also offers specialized services such as aquatic therapy, an Adapted Driving Program, work hardening, Assistive Technology Center and a Vestibular (Balance) Rehabilitation Program.

Responsibilities:

• Inpatient/outpatient mix
• Medically-complex inpatient rehab
• Focus on neuro-rehabilitation and stroke
• Act as the primary doctor for the patients
• You will work with an internist who will assist with medical issues
• You will manage the stroke inpatient census and participate in coverage of the brain injury unit as needed.
• You will follow the inpatients in the outpatient setting in a collaborative fashion with the outpatient neurorehabilitation therapists, evaluating spasticity, and performing neurolysis mostly with botulinum toxin

Call:

• Not on weeknights as there are moonlighter physicians for late weekday admissions and overnight duties
• 1:7 weekend call with internists sharing call with the physiatrists to assist with the weekend admissions

Candidate Qualifications:

• Board Certified or Qualified physiatrist with excellent interpersonal and communications skills

• Share their mission of providing quality medical rehab and care
• Procedural skills including MSK Ultrasound, EMG, spasticity management, pain procedures a plus.
