When a family member started a hospital-based physiatry practice, I was asked to assist in the setup. My initial role was to manage the practice, while the medical secretary handled the administrative work, along with the billing function.

Due to numerous interruptions during the day, such as faxing prescriptions, taking calls from families of confined rehab patients, and a host of other miscellaneous duties, the secretary was unable to properly handle the billing function

Therefore, I took over the billing. With my accounting background, medical billing was quite natural. Coupled with my newly-gained experience managing a private hospital-based physiatry practice, I developed a well-rounded versatility in all aspects of physiatry practice – from top to bottom.

One day, I had an idea that other physiatrists might benefit from my expertise, which led to the birth of Physiatry Billing Specialists Inc.

Now twenty years later, with clients in several states, my company is able to offer personalized service which extends way beyond medical billing, including complete practice setup, credentialing, and the complex MIPS program.
